Tips For Attending the Route 66 Neon Park Lighting Ceremony

Read up on helpful tips, and answers to your questions,  regarding the upcoming City of St. Robert Missouri Route 66 Neon Park Lighting Ceremony - May 9 2025!

Tip #1!  Bring your lawn chair!!

Tip #2: Parking

Public  & Handicapped Parking – St Robert Community Center – 114 J.H. Williamson Blvd. St Robert Blvd. St. Robert.  Shuttle service will be provided between the Community Center parking lot and the George M. Reed Roadside Park/Route 66 Neon Park.  Shuttle is ADA accessible.

Media/Reserved Parking – Lynch’s Furniture (248 Old Route 66, St. Robert)

Cave State Cruisers – Lynch’s Furniture (248 Old Route 66, St. Robert)

 

Reed Way (Park cross-thru) will be closed noon until 9:30pm on May 9th.

J.H. Williamson Blvd from the Neon Park and down to the Community Center WILL BE CLOSED from 4pm until after the event!!!!!!!  You MUST enter J.H. Williamson Blvd FROM THE SOUTH!

Tip #3: To avoid congestion on Route 66

Arrival from the West: I-44  Exit 161, turn right onto Missouri Ave, to 2nd stoplight, turn right on J. H. Williamson Blvd, (Culver's/Scooter's Coffee stoplight), then left .5mi to Community Center parking lot for Public and Handicapped parking.

Arrival from the East: I-44 Exit 161, south on Missouri Ave to 3rd stoplight, turn right on J.H. Williamson Blvd, (Culver's/Scooter's Coffee stoplight) , then left.5mi to Community Center parking lot for Public and Handicapped parking.

Arrival from the South: (Fort Leonard Wood).  Turn left onto J. H. Williamson Blvd (Culver’s/Scooter’s Coffee), then left .5mi to Community Center parking lot.

Arrival from North/West:  Either take I-44 E to Exit 161, Missouri Ave to J.H. Williamson Blvd., (Culver's/Scooter's Coffee stoplight), then left into Community Center parking lot, OR Route 66, to St. Robert Blvd., turn right onto Missouri Ave, to 4th stoplight, turn right on J.H. Williamson Blvd, (Culver's/Scooter's Coffee stoplight), then left .5mi to Community Center parking lot for Public and Handicapped parking.

When & What to Expect

5pm – 9pm - DJ Steve providing 50’s – 60’s music.

5pm - 9pm - Cave State Cruisers Cruise-in at Lynch’s Furniture parking lot

6pm – Neon 5k – No charge to participate!  Meet up at St Robert Aquatic Center parking lot. (105 J.H. Williamson Blvd. St. Robert)

7pm – City of St. Robert Route 66 Neon Park Ceremony and speakers.  8:07pm lighting.

Free hotdogs and water to the first 500.   Event shirts for sale – several will be given away.

Common Questions.....

I ordered a brick/tile, will they be in the park for this event?  No, they will be installed later this summer.

What signs will be lit the night of May 9th?  At this time; Skyline Garage, D & G, Alura Motel, Modern Cabins, AlPac Motel, Stanley Cour-tel, Motel STL, and Tri-State.

Will all the signs be installed?  The majority of signs will be installed for the ceremony.  The Scully sign will be installed in the summer.  And there is room for expansion in the future.

Will the storyboards be installed May 9th?  They are currently in production and will be installed in the coming weeks.

Will Reed Way (cross over road at park) be open the night of May 9th?  No, it will be closed to thru traffic for the event.  Shuttle entry only!

Will there be food at the event? Free hot dogs and water to the first 500 people.  An ice cream and shaved ice vendor have been invited to sell at the event.  There are a number of fast food, and restaurants in close proximity of the event.

Is there an admission fee to the event? No, there is no cost to attend.

Questions About The Future....

Will there be a charge for entering the park in the future?  No, free admission.

How late will the signs be lit?  Daily until midnight, until further notice.

When is the park open?  From daylight until midnight, until further notice.

Is there parking at the Park?  Yes, there is an asphalt parking lot.

Will there be more parking?  Yes, in the future.  The city is in phase 1 of the development.

Can you walk up to the signs?  Yes, there are concrete pathways leading up to each sign.

Can I park close enough to take a picture of my car with the signs in the background?  Yes, the parking lot faces the signs.  However, you will not be able to do so the night of May 9th.

Can I bring my dog?  Yes, but must be  on a leash, and if you clean up after your pet.  It is advised to not bring your dog for the May 9th event.

Are the signs only local?  No, signs are from Route 66 locations across Missouri – St. Louis to Carthage.

Were the signs taken down from their original locations for this park?  No, they were acquired from their owners from fields and garages.

Are the signs replicas?  No, they are original and have been restored.
