Route 66 Centennial
Route 66 Centennial
100 Years of Kicks
Since 1926, Route 66 has carried countless travelers across the many incredible vistas that have come to define America, from the windy shores of Lake Michigan and the skyscraper-lined streets of Chicago to the arid deserts of the Southwest to the sunny shores of Santa Monica, CA. But no landscape across the 2,448-mile highway is quite as breathtaking as the rolling Ozark hills and crystal-clear waterways of Pulaski County.
As the Birthplace of the Byway, Pulaski County is proud to celebrate 100 years of a proud and storied connection to what John Steinbeck so lovingly called “the Mother Road.” Here, the spirit of those mid-century adventurers lives on, from historic stops that have lured travelers for a century to those newly constructed in the spirit of romantic exploration.
So, this year, celebrate 100 years of an American icon and see how the spirit of Route 66 lives on in Pulaski County.
