Civil War Reenactments, gravel grinds, marathons, rodeos, a wide range of choices. Something every month and nearly every weekend!
Military and Route 66 History – We have rich history in Trail of Tears, Civil War, Military and Route 66 history. Pay tribute to the National Park Service Trail of Tears Memorial located along the beautiful Roubidoux River. Visit the 1903 Courthouse Museum and the Old Stagecoach Stop Museums in Waynesville, the Frisco Railroad Museum, or take in the military museums of Fort Leonard Wood and the City of St. Robert Museum. Or stop by the Freedom Rock and military mural display, the USO Chimney Memorial, City of Dixon Murals, or “picture” yourself in front of the Route 66 mural in downtown Waynesville.
Travelers visit Pulaski County as they experience America’s Mother Road, Historic Route 66. The Bureau has developed a detailed brochure, online interactive map, and an audio tour to enhance your visit, with over 50 stops at historic locations, fun, and unique businesses.
The Great Outdoors – Are you an outdoor enthusiast? The Gasconade and Big Piney Rivers provide a river float experience like none other! Gentle rivers, spectacular Ozark scenery, and phenomenal fishing. The Roubidoux River is known for white ribbon trout fishing, and certified cave divers come from around the world to dive Roubidoux Spring and Cave. Public access to the river is available for those that want to go it alone or hire one of the local fishing guides to find the perfect fishing hole.
How about experiencing farm life? Berry picking, fall harvest farms; offering educational opportunities and games, petting zoos, hayrides … great for a weekend of memories for your family, church, school or scout groups.
