The Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Fort Leonard Wood Mid-Missouri Chapter is hosting a collaborated event to bring the Army outside the gates for an evening showcase event open to the public on April 21, 2023.
This special event is an opportunity for the public to engage and participate in hands-on experiences with service members. There will be military vehicles and other static displays for the community to see up close. The Waynesville High School JROTC will also provide color guard and be present for the evening.
The Ceremony begins at 4:30 pm with Best Sapper Competition kicking off at 5 p.m. at Roubidoux Park, in conjunction, giving the public the opportunity to watch Soldiers complete a portion of their competition. Sappers from across the Army compete to identify the best the Engineer Regiment has to offer through multiple days of rigorous physical and technical tasks.
AUSA invites the community to stay following the competition for a free meal and fellowship, providing additional time to interact with Soldiers.
“This will be a great opportunity for our community to connect with the Army and to showcase support of Fort Leonard Wood,” Command Sergeant Major, United States Army, Retired, AUSA Fifth Region President, Rick Morris, said.
