Pulaski County is excited to welcome the return of Big BAM riders to the Waynesville City Park, but it is important to know that there are note-worthy stops before you even reach Basecamp. Pulaski’s first water stop is at Click’s on Route 66. Complimentary water is available for cyclists and the general store will be open at 6 am. Make note of Hanna Hills Disc Golf as you depart Laquey. Consider booking a great afternoon of play on their 18-hole course later in the day. Be sure to swing by Tiger Nutrition for an energy drink to help fuel you through a great day of exploring Pulaski or stop in at Master Doughnuts for an early morning treat. You can find both off of Route 66, right on Ichord Ave. If you are looking for a heaty plate of biscuits and gravy swing into Westside Café, or Drachenfutter’s German Pancakes, both east of the Route 66 and Ichord Ave intersection.
After a quick break to catch your breath at Basecamp, take a look around you and see what’s there! Cooldown at the splash park or swim in our beautiful section of the Roubidoux! Get together with one of our local outfitters and float down the river for a couple of hours. Liberty Life Park Campground will be providing a shuttle to and from the park for float trips at their gorgeous location at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, so make sure to get your reservations as soon as possible! Bring one (or two) of your friends and rent a canoe, or if you would prefer to go your own speed, rent a one-person kayak! Once you finish floating the river, take a walk on the Trail of Tears Memorial Trail and learn more about Waynesville’s history.
Wanting to get a good look at downtown Waynesville? Look no further than our Historic Downtown Waynesville Walking Tour! You can download an interactive online map or an online brochure, then learn more about the community as you walk around the square! Step back in time as you tour the Old Stagecoach Stop Museum on the northeast side of the Square. Special Big BAM hours are planned from 10 AM to 8 PM. Tour guides will greet you in period costume and share the rich history that occurred from the 1800s to the present. Great eats include Asian and German fare, Haute Dawgs, honey ice cream, soups & sandwiches, cheesy pizza, and juicy hamburgers. While you’re out, be sure to stop in the various local businesses. Piney River Taproom Brewery will be offering sample flights of some local brews, along with the usual pints and amazing pizza. Hopper’s Pub will be having Trivia Night beginning at 6:00 PM. Waynesville has everything from ½ hour to hour massage studios, antiques, collectibles, and locally made items, to an impressive art gallery.
If you head west from the square, make sure to stop in at Drachenfutter. Relax and have a specialty tea or coffee or take some friends and play one of the board games that Drachenfutter provides. Mary also invites you to relax along Route 66 at their outdoor patio. Drachenfutter is teaming up with Piney River Taproom and they’re planning a great night of activities with live music from Pyrosonic, a local band that plays everything from 60’s music to modern and a variety of genres. Piney River Taproom will be setting up their mobile tap on Drachenfutter’s patio so you can enjoy a good drink during the concert. Visit the Pulaski County Library and enjoy the quiet environment and free internet access. Have you missed out on the latest movies? Beat the heat and see the newest movie at B&B Theater!
You may also go up Waynesville hill and, after saying hi to our frog rock in residence, head on to see the sights in Saint Robert. Visit the free City of Saint Robert Museum and learn more about our local history. The Saint Robert Municipal Golf Course welcomes you to their 3-Par, 9 hole course and has clubs available at the Municipal Center for your use! Or if you want something quirky, Uranus has an outdoor miniature golf course. While you are there, check out the Slideshow Museum and grab a photo by the Neon Wall along the east side of the complex. Bring some friends and stop by Bow and Barrel Sportsmen Center for a friendly shooting competition. Be sure to check out the Pulaski County Regional Fair down by the Saint Robert Community Center! Enjoy the Corn Hole Contest, with registration starting 7:30 PM and the event beginning at 8:00 PM.
Saint Robert also has a variety of hotels, spas, and restaurants for you to relax at and enjoy! Some of our hotels are even offering special room pricing just for those participating in Big BAM this year! And if you don’t feel like going out to eat, have your food delivered with one of the local delivery services! Need a ride while in town? Try calling one of Pulaski’s transportation services!
If you have booked a stay at one of the hotels, shuttle service to and from basecamp and the hotel is available. Contact Simply Fast Courier Service for the $5pp BigBam Special Rate.
